Youth
constitute significant Nepalese population, both
quantitatively and qualitatively. Youth are not
just leaders of tomorrow; they are also partner
of today and are agents of development and change.
Any country can benefit tremendously if the talents
and energy of the youths could be utilized in the
state building process and development programs.
It is also very important to build capacity of youth,
make them responsible and use their energy and skills
in the development and peacebuilding efforts of
the country.
We need effective strategies to help youth overcome
their challenges; make right choices, protect them
from exploitation and neglect, and ensure their
involvement in all spheres of the society and overall
development of the nation. In the current transition
youth involvement is compulsory to transform the
conflict and establish sustainable peace in the
country. Youth in Peace and Development Partnership
is thus a step towards the mainstreaming of youth
of this nation within national focus as not only
the beneficiary but also a key partner in development
and planning. This program also contributes to the
national objective of "providing youths will
opportunities to develop their capacity and talents
to make them participate in the rebuilding and social
economic transformation of the country".
