International Youth day 2009 Celebrated

Katmandu , Association of Youth organization Nepal (AYON) celebrated International Youth day 2009 with the theme of; SUSTANIBILITY: OUR CHALLENGE, OUR FUTURE on 12th August 2009 in partnership with UNFPA, Bank of Katmandu, NGO federation, WOREC, Maiti Nepal, Save the Children and its member organizations. AYON conducted various program based on Kathmandu.
Interaction Program:
An interaction Program on the topic of ‘Our Constitution; Sustainability: Our Challenge, Our Future" was organized jointly by Association of Youth Organization (AYON) and NGO Federation of Nepal (NEF) on 11 August 2009. The aim of the program was to identify the issues related to sustainability and associated problems and the ways to incorporate them in the constitution. There were 35 participants representating from various organizations Creative Youth Society, Youth for Change, Nodan Club, Youth Initiative, Youth Action, Clean Energy Nepal, Community Information Network, YOCAP Nepal, CWS, MOYS, NEFIN, Human Rights Alliance, YATRA, NFIWUAN, FEDWASUN, Radio Sagarmatha, and Voice of Youth FM. Similarly, the representatives from UNFPA, Ministry of Youth and Sports, UNMC also took part in the program.
Youth Rally:
On August 12, International Youth day 2009, AYON organized a youth rally. The rally was started from Maitighar Mandala and ended at Basantapur Dabali. AYON had led the rally, various youth organizations and AYON Member organizations had joined the rally.
Exhibition:
Reflecting the Sustainability, AYON managed an exhibition in Basantapur. Various youth and sustainability related books, posters etc were displayed.
Blood Donation Program:
In collaboration with Youth Action Nepal AYON organized Blood Donation program in Basantapur on 12 August. The blood donation program was started from 9:30 am in Basantapur and 55 people had donated blood.
Youth Concert:
A Youth concert was organized at Basantapur on August 12 reflecting the theme of "Sustainability: Our Challenge, Our Future" among youths. Aout 1000 people were gathered in the concert. Kutumba Band, Sital and Subani Muktan, Milan Surkheti, Ram Chandra Kafle and Bipana Dhital performed their songs and Music in the concert.
